Workers' compensation typically covers medical expenses related to your injury, including doctor visits, surgeries, medications, and rehabilitation. You may also be entitled to wage replacement benefits if you are unable to work during your recovery. Additional benefits such as vocational rehabilitation and permanent disability payments may apply depending on the severity of your injury.
No, workers' compensation covers the medical expenses related to your injury, as long as they are deemed causally related to your injury, necessary and appropriate for your recovery. You will not need to pay out-of-pocket for treatments covered by the workers' compensation claim. Be sure to work with the medical providers approved by your employer or the insurance company for the best coverage.
If you are offered a transitional duty job while recovering from your injury, you should accept it, as you are required to do so by law, so long as you are medically capable of performing those duties. It can also help facilitate a faster recovery and expedite your return to your pre-injury capacity. If you do not return to work when such a position is offered to you, you will likely lose or all or most of your WC wage benefits.
Depending on the state where you were injured, our team can assist you in finding an appropriate medical provider. However, state-specific guidelines may apply regarding which providers are authorized for your workers' compensation claim. We recommend discussing this with your claims examiner to ensure you are following the correct process and receiving the appropriate care.
